Like so many others, my healing path began with my own personal experience. About six months after suffering double whiplash from a significant rear end collision in my very early 20’s, I started to experience chronic debilitating pain and dysfunction in my neck, shoulders and torso. I was fortunate to find a fantastic Chiropractor and found great relief through several months of regular adjustments, stretching and somatic exercises. Even though I saw a lot of improvement, I was still experiencing chronic muscle tightness that would manifest into muscle spasms, pinched nerves and headaches. My Chiropractor decided to have me try a few focused sessions with the Massage Therapist that worked in her office, Hope. It’s been a long time now, but I still remember how amazed I was by the benefits I experienced after receiving my first massage with her! I continued with a frequent regimen of chiropractic adjustments and massage therapy, along with my ‘homework’, and found my way to almost complete recovery. I was profoundly fascinated by the tremendous ability massage therapy proved to have in helping to remove the physical, emotional, and energetic barriers that can interfere with our innate self-healing mechanisms. Finding myself very inspired to learn how to help others in the way Hope helped me, naturally my next step was to take a deep dive head first into massage school!
I landed at Northern Lights School of Massage Therapy in 1999, where I committed myself to the ‘Intensive’ Program and received quality instruction in Swedish massage, trigger point, integrative, and myofascial theory and technique, as well as anatomy, physiology, pathology, kinesiology, energy anatomy healing, and aromatherapy areas of study.
My continuing education has included:
NeuroMuscular Therapy
Reiki (levels 1,2 & Master)
CranioSacral Therapy (CS1+)
More to come…
Having the experience of working in many different settings, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many wonderful people over the years (I guess decades now) that have found their way to my practice. Every body has a story to tell that compassionate touch with intention, no matter the modality, can connect with, speak to and learn from. Namaste
